Train to become a teacher and gain your Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) while earning a salary with the School Direct Teacher Training course at Piper’s Vale Primary Academy.
The course combines personal learning sessions with vital time in the classroom, observing and working with established teachers to deliver a range of lessons to children. These practical sessions will account for around 80% of your time and give you the essential skills and experience you need to become a professional teacher.
Most of these practical sessions will be at Piper’s Vale, however we will make sure you have time at another school to expand your range of experiences.
While you are training you’ll be paid a minimum of point 1 on the unqualified teacher scale depending on experience. As of October 2019, this is £17,208.
Why train to be a teacher with Paradigm?
Paradigm Trust has a significant track record of delivering high-quality initial teaching training. Last year every one of our trainees were graded good or better and 90% successfully applied for permanent teaching posts with us this year.
At Paradigm Trust, one of our mottos is “Teach the right things, efficiently.” We know every minute we have with our learners is important so we never waste time. We take the essentials of every subject and make sure we teach them in the most effective way. We know what works in the classroom and we want to share that with you.
How to apply for teacher training
To be successful as a teacher you will be motivated, enthusiastic and inspirational. You’ll understand teaching is more than ‘just a job, it’s a chance to make a difference and help children and young people fulfil their potential. Experience working with children is preferable, but not essential. You will also need the following:
Degree requirements
- A first degree at 2:2 or above. If your degree is from a non-UK university you must approach NARIC to gain an equivalence certificate.
GCSE Qualifications
- GCSEs or equivalent at grade 4 or ‘C’ in English and mathematics
If you are successfully shortlisted, part of the interview process will involve us observing you teaching a short lesson so we can assess your teaching potential.
