Our Year 3 and 4 students had a ‘hair-raising’ time investigating the invisible forces of static electricity!
By rubbing balloons against different materials, the young scientists learned how friction can cause electrons to jump from one surface to another, giving the balloons a negative charge.
The real magic happened when they held their balloons over small pieces of paper—watching the paper defy gravity and leap into the air to stick to the balloon! It was a fantastic, hands-on way to see how opposite charges attract and how energy can move all around us.
